The short version

WhereDidIPutIt? is a personal inventory app developed by Jocelyn. It helps you record belongings and their storage places. We do not operate an account system, an inventory server or a cloud-sync service. The app does not upload your inventory to us.

There is no advertising SDK, inventory analytics SDK or AI processing in the app. Google Play purchase services, user-chosen export/share destinations and this website’s hosting are separate interactions described below.

What the app stores

The app stores item names, notes, categories, tags, manually entered places, copied photos, thumbnails, creation/update times and move history in its private local storage. It also stores preferences such as appearance, language, default place, widget settings and the local Pro-access state. These records are used to display, organize and search your belongings and enable selected features.

A place such as “Home › Top drawer” is text you enter, not a GPS reading. We do not request GPS, contacts or microphone access. A home-screen widget can display recent item names, places and thumbnails on your home screen when you enable it.

Photos and permissions

Camera access is requested when you choose to take a photo. You can decline it and still save items or choose an existing image. Android’s Photo Picker gives the app access to the images you select; the app does not request broad access to your photo library.

The app creates resized photo copies and thumbnails in its own storage. It does not modify or delete the original images in your library. You can revoke camera access in Android Settings. Files selected for backup import are accessed through Android’s document picker.

Google Play and Pro

Pro is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription. Google Play processes payments. The app receives purchase information such as a product identifier, purchase token and purchase state to check ownership, acknowledge a purchase and restore access. The resulting access state is kept locally for offline use. We do not receive your payment-card details.

The app can connect to Google Play to check product availability, local prices and purchase ownership, including before you buy Pro. Google Play and its Billing SDK may process account, transaction, device and diagnostic information under Google’s policies. Item names, notes, places and photos are not supplied to Billing by this app. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Exports and sharing are your choice

Backup export, CSV export, backup import and sharing run when you select those actions. You choose the file destination or receiving app. A destination may be a cloud provider if you select one in the system picker. Its own terms and privacy policy then apply.

ZIP backups can contain your inventory, photos and history; CSV files contain inventory text. Exported files are not password-encrypted by the app. Choose a destination you trust. Import adds copies and keeps existing items. We do not receive exported files unless you deliberately send them to us.

Keeping and deleting your data

Local inventory remains on your device until you edit or delete it, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. Deleting an item removes its record and its app photo copies. Deleting a place with contents requires an explicit choice to move its items or delete those contents.

Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes local app data, but does not remove files you exported or shared elsewhere, original library photos, or Google Play’s transaction records. Remove external copies from their destinations separately. Automatic Android app backup is disabled by this app; device/vendor transfer tools are governed by your device’s settings and policies.

How information is protected

The app uses Android’s private application storage for local records and copied photos. Access also depends on your device’s security, operating system and screen lock. The app does not provide a separate encrypted vault or password protection for exported backups.

We cannot remotely retrieve your inventory if your device is lost or its local data is erased. Keep an exported backup in a trusted location when you need one, and avoid sending sensitive inventory information in support messages.

Contact and privacy requests

Jocelyn is the developer responsible for this app. For privacy questions or requests, email seansheaton@gmail.com. If you contact us, we receive the address, message and attachments you choose to send and use them to respond to your request. Email providers process that communication under their own policies.

Support correspondence is kept only as needed to handle the request or meet applicable obligations. You can ask us to access, correct or delete information you sent us, subject to applicable law. We cannot access or delete inventory stored only on your device; use the app’s controls or Android’s app-storage settings. There is no app account to close.

Children’s information

The app does not ask for ages or create child profiles. Its local storage can contain whatever users choose to enter. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through a support message, contact us so we can review and address it.

About this website

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. We have not added analytics, advertising, tracking cookies, third-party fonts or embedded external media. Language links open separate static pages and do not create a tracking profile.

GitHub may process technical request information and logs visitors’ IP addresses for security when serving this site. This is separate from inventory stored in the Android app. Read GitHub Pages’ data-collection notice and the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its effective date when this policy changes. Material changes that require additional notice or permission will be communicated as applicable. This policy does not replace the privacy policies of Google Play or services you choose for exports and sharing.
